Raines says he’s not going anywhere:

Tony Raines, who was rumored to be on a short list of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup drivers courted to drive the #30 America Online Chevy for Richard Childress Racing next season, told the Herald-Argus Tuesday that he’s staying with BACE Motorsports and will drive the #74 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the 2004 season. “I had talked to RCR quite a bit (about driving the #30 car), but I think I’m going to stay right here with BACE,” Raines said Tuesday. “Even if they called me today or tomorrow, I’d tell them I’ve made up my mind to stay.” “They (RCR) seem to be having trouble making up their minds, and it’s not fair to leave (BACE team owner Bill Baumgartner) and the rest of the team hanging in limbo,” Raines said. “We’ve been together for a long time, and they don’t deserve to be put in that situation.”( Herald-Argus )(11-27-2003)
